For the past century the most utilized treatment model for dealing with addiction related issues has been either the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous or modified versions such as those found in Narcotics Anonymous and Cocaine Anonymous. They have been used for everything from over eating to over spending to simply being messy.
But while the program has been modified to accommodate other addictions it has never been adapted to address an increasingly growing part of our community. This being the Atheist, the humanist, the secularist, the non-believer in gods or a god.
Atheistic Recovery is for everyone. It is for members of Alcoholics Anonymous, it is for members of Narcotics Anonymous, Whatever your fellowship this interpretation of the 12 steps can be applied.
I am an atheist. But you do not have to be. If you have struggled with the steps and this concept of god that is found there… fear not!
You can do this without a god concept.
You can do this without a “higher power”.
But you can not do this alone!
I only hope this helps you get started.
THIS CHANNEL IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS OR ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS. HOWEVER DO TO THE UBIQUITOUS NATURE OF THESE PROGRAMS IN THE RECOVERY COMMUNITY I WILL BE REFERENCING THE FELLOWSHIPS AS A WHOLE AND THE LITERATURE FOR REFERENCE PURPOSE. THIS DOES NOT CONSTITUTE ANY CONFLICT OR COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT UNDER THE FAIR USE PROVISIONS FOUND IN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAWS. MY INTENT IS TO HELP AND EDUCATE PEOPLE WITH THIS MATERIAL.
